ONE ARRESTED FOR FRAUD On Wednesday, November 5, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Fraud Unit was called to LaSenza in the Station Mall in regards to an internal theft and fraud.
ONE ARRESTED FOR FRAUD
On Wednesday, November 5, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Fraud Unit was called to LaSenza in the Station Mall in regards to an internal theft and fraud.

As a result of an investigation, a female employee was charged with one count of Fraud and one count of Theft Under $ 5,000.00. Sgt. M. Rollin of the Sault Police Service said the charges stem from 39 fraudulent transactions carried out by the employee over a period of six months.

The accused is alleged to have voided cash sales after the customer had left and then kept the money from those sales.

She will be appearing in court on Mon. Dec. 8th at 9:00 am. If you have information on this or any other fraud, you are asked to contact Sgt. Rollin of the Fraud Unit.


DOMESTIC DISPUTE
At approx. 6:00 PM yesterday evening the City Police were called to an east end residence in regards to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival at the home the officers heard a male person threaten, to use a knife, to kill the female resident.

Subsequently the 34-year-old male, who had been drinking, was arrested and charged with Threatening Death. The accused will be appearing in Bail Court today at 1:30 PM.


STOLEN PURSE SEASON APPROACHES
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is investigating two reports of stolen purses. The first incident took place prior to 5:00 PM from an office in the Station Mall.

The second incident took place at approx. 8:00 PM. In this incident two males approached a female in the food court area of the Cambian Mall, grabbed her purse and ran out. A citizen gave chase and the two culprits dropped the purse as they ran off.

The suspects are both described as being: approx. 18 years of age, 5’10” in height and weighing approx. 150 lb. Both were wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and one of the males had what appeared to be a goatee.

Anyone having knowledge about this or any other incident is asked to contact the City Police Investigative Services.

Police are advising office and store workers not to leave their purses and /or other valuables where members of the public can have access to these items. As we get closer to the Christmas Season more of these types of incidents will take place. Please take an extra minute to secure your valuables

SUSPICIOUS CAR FIRE
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and the Fire Department responded to a car fire on North St. near Northern Ave early this morning, at approx. 5:00 AM. At this time the incident is being treated as suspicious. The investigation is continuing.
