Yesterday afternoon Christian Ferry, age 46, of no fixed address broke the window of a business in the 300 block of Pim Street. When the owner of the address apprehended the accused, the accused punched the owner in the face and fled.

Yesterday afternoon Christian Ferry, age 46, of no fixed address broke the window of a business in the 300 block of Pim Street. When the owner of the address apprehended the accused, the accused punched the owner in the face and fled. The owner followed the accused, and apprehended him again and turned him over to police. The male initially refused to identify himself to police and also resisted arrest. Mr. Ferry has been charged with one count of assault, one count of mischief and one count of resist police. He will appear in bail court this morning.

ASSAULT CHARGES LAID

Last evening around 10 pm City Police attended at a downtown residence for a domestic assault. It is alleged that a 37-year old male assaulted his common-law wife by pushing her. The victim did not receive any injuries. At the time of the offence the accused was on a probation order with conditions to notify police of any change of address. During the course of the investigation police learned that the accused had moved several months ago and had not updated his address. The male has been charged with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation. He will appear in bail court this morning.

MALE CHARGED WITH BREACH OF PROBATION

Around 3 am this morning officers stopped a pickup truck and when speaking with the 2 persons in the vehicle, they learned that the male passenger was on a release document with conditions to be in his residence between 11 pm and 7 am. He was also on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good. Jamie Waboose, age 22, of 2246 Mission Road, Goulais River, has been charged with one count of breach of a release order and one count of breach of probation. He will appear in bail court this morning

MALE CHARGED WITH THREATENING DEATH
Yesterday morning City Police arrested a 31-year old male after he raised his fist at his wife and threatened to kill her while at their east end residence. The male has been charged with one count of assault and one count of threatening death or bodily harm. He will appear in court on January 3, 2005.

TWO MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISIONS

Officers from the Sault Ste Marie Traffic Services Section were busy yesterday investigating 2 motor vehicle collisions with injuries both which occurred within 3 hours of each other:

-around noon hour police attended at Bay Street and Andrew Street after a truck operated by Hayward Tucker of 356 Farwell Terrace stuck the back of a car operated by Phyllis Anderson of 508-588 Albert St W. Both vehicles were traveling eastbound on Bay Street, when the Anderson vehicle stopped for the amber light at the intersection. The Tucker vehicle attempted to stop but slid into the rear of the Anderson car. No one involved required medical treatment for his or her injuries. Mr. Tucker has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with one count of careless driving.
-Shortly after 3 pm a car operated by Gloria Chaimbrone of 55 McQueen Road was traveling westbound on Trunk Road in the centre lane. A transport truck being operated by Andrew Toczek of Shakopee, Minnesota was also traveling westbound on Trunk Road and was in the turn lane. Another transport truck being operated by Branislav Kovacevic of Waterloo, Ontario pulled out of the Husky Truck Stop and turned into the turn lane and was also heading west. Mr. Toczek moved from the turn land and struck the Chaimbrone vehicle, causing it to spin around and struck the Kovacevic transport. Mrs. Chaimbrone was transported to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Toczek has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with one count of change lane not in safety. The Chaimbrone vehicle was demolished in the accident and both transports received moderate damage.


REMINDER:
The Santa Claus Parade will be happening in the downtown area on Saturday Evening. The parade will start at 6 pm however the parade participants will be forming up at 5 pm sharp. The public is reminded that after 5 pm Queen Street East between Pine St and Pim Street will be closed to any traffic. As of 6 pm this area as well as through to Gore Street will also be closed for the parade. Anyone who needs to access the downtown area is asked to avoid Queen Street and use Wellington Street East instead. People who need to attend the hospitals will access to the hospital via Kohler Street. As of 5 pm any persons who are in the downtown area will need to leave via Gore Street, as Queen Street E. will be closed if they attempt to travel along Bay Street.
