DRUG BUST
Yesterday at 11:45 am, plain clothes detectives from the Investigation Services Section of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and Drug Enforcement Officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit conducted a Proactive Drug Enforcement Initiative by way of drug-oriented observations at Sir James Dunn High School on Wellington Stret East.

Police Officers came across a 16-year-old male from Goulais River in a small wooded area next to the school, in possession of a marijuana toker pipe with obvious residue and a cannabis marijuana leaf. The youth eventually exhibited remorse for his actions and was subsequently given a verbal warning only, in respect to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

In the same area Officers dealt with another 16-year-old male from Chartwell Drive who was in possession of 1/2 gram of cannabis marijuana in a small toker pipe. This youth also exhibited remorse for his actions and was subsequently given a verbal warning only, in respect of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The contraband was seized.

Drug Enforcement Officers located a third 16-year-old male in that area in possession of four 1-gram packages of marijuana and related packaging material. This accused was also in possession of $20.00 cash, as a result of selling marijuana.

Officers determined that youth was in possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. The accused was subsequently arrested and charged with this offence. He will appear in youth court in mid June.


POSING AS DOCTOR
On Sunday, May 4, Michael Leblanc, age 32 of 129 Salisbury Avenue called Shopper's Drug Mart at 44 Great Northern Road. He allegedly identified himself as a Doctor and called in a prescription for 25 mg of Amitriptyline to be delivered at the public library in Sault Ste. Marie for a Michael Leblanc a.k.a. Robert White.

Yesterday, Michael Leblanc called Shopper's Drug Mart saying again that he was a Doctor and called in two more prescriptions, Lorazepam and Clonazepam and asked to have them delivered to 129 Salisbury at 6:50 pm.

Detectives from the Investigation Services Section went to the home of the accused in lieu of the delivery person and arrested and charged him with three counts of Attempted Fraud and three counts of Attempted Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act. Leblanc will appear in bail court today.


MISSED FEMALE, POLICE ARREST MALE INSTEAD
Yesterday at 8:45 pm, patrol officers went to Shafer Avenue residence in an attempt to locate a female that they were looking for.

The officers spoke with Joseph Martone, age 44 of 659 Shafer Avenue concerning her whereabouts. A police records check of Martone revealed two outstanding warrants for Failing to Appear in Court on April 15 on charges of Possession for the Purposes of Trafficking.

Police, although unable to locate the female, did execute the warrants and arrested and charged Martone with Failing to Attend in court. He is now scheduled to appear in court on June 16th.


DRUG BUST
Yesterday at approximately 8:00 pm, police officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit, assisted by Emergency Service Unit Police Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service executed a search warrant upon an apartment located at 536 Goulais Avenue.

Police Officers located a box of .308 calibre ammunition and a box of .410 calibre ammunition unsafely stored in a dresser drawer. The resident of the apartment Pamela Sim, age 19 of 536 Goulais Ave. #301 was arrested and charged with Unsafe Storage of the Ammunition. She will appear in court on June 9th.

Drug Unit Officers also located a Dan Favaro, age 21 of the same address, at this location. Favaro turned over 66 grams of cannabis resin and three cannabis resin spliffs to the officers. Police also located a small spring scale, grinder and other associated drug paraphernalia. The estimated street value of drugs seized is $ 1335.00.

He was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug for the Purpose of Trafficking, Unsafe Storage of the ammunition and Possession of a Controlled Drug. He will appear in court on June 16th.


DRUG BUST
Yesterday at 7:30 pm, a vehicle stop was conducted by police officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit at Goulais Avenue and Rushmere Street revealed that the driver of the car did not have a drivers licence as a result of being suspended.

The driver, Murray Case, age 30 of 845 Cooper Street was arrested and a subsequent search of Case revealed he was in possession of 5.8 grams of marihuana. The value of this seizure is approximately $100.00.

He has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act and he was also charged with driving suspended contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He will appear in court on June 9th.

A passenger in the vehicle, David John Richards, age 34 of 710 Second Line West # 5 was also arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act in relation to the marihuana seizure. He will also appear in court on June 9th.


GIRL ASSAULTS GIRL
Yesterday at approximately 9:45 pm the victim, a 16-year-old female was on Gore Street near Queen Street, where she was assaulted outside on the sidewalk by the accused, a 15-year-old female from Pim Street.

The accused had a short verbal argument with the victim, then punched and kicked the victim in the head and stomach area numerous times forcing her to the ground. Once on the ground the accused continued to punch and kick her while the victim attempted to cover up and protect herself from the blows.

The injuries to the victim consisted of a rather large bump on her forehead over her left eye, a swollen lower lip with some abrasions on it, and a swollen right cheek under the right eye, along with general soreness. The victim did not seek medical attention.

After the assault the victim went to an adult relatives home and police were called. Officers located the accused at her home and arrested and charged her with Assault. She will appear in bail court today.


BREAK & ENTERS
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated two break-ins yesterday.

At 9:30 am patrol officers were called to All Sports Auto Sales at 1025 McNabb Street where thieves had removed the ignition of a truck and moved it forward so they could smash the door of a storage shed. After smashing the door thieves stole a four-wheeler Yamaha ATV. It is described as a 2000 model and red in colour. The approximate value of the ATV is estimated at $5,700.00. Damage to the vehicle and the shed is estimated over $700.00.

At 9:36 am, a male in the 600 block of Queen Street East advised police that his apartment was entered and thieves stole his wallet and a small quantity of cash.
