Afternoon release: A vehicle had its window smashed overnight on Bainbridge St. Change was taken from the vehicle. A vehicle was entered on Northern Ave and change was taken. A vehicle on Grand Blvd.

Afternoon release:

A vehicle had its window smashed overnight on Bainbridge St.  Change was taken from the vehicle.

A vehicle was entered on Northern Ave and change was taken.

A vehicle on Grand Blvd. had its window smashed overnight and change was taken.

A vehicle on Bush St had its window smashed and money taken.

At approximately 7:40 a.m. officers attended an single motor vehicle collision in the Allard St. / Chapple  Ave.  area.  A single vehicle was eastbound on Chapple St., proceeded through the stop sign without stopping, and through the parking lot of the apartment building at 62 Allard St.  The vehicle struck the wall of the building, travelled along it approximately 40 feet, swerved between parked cars, drove through a fence, down an embankment and struck a concrete barrier that stopped the car. The investigation revealed the 49 year old female driver was suffering from a medical condition.  Fortunately no injuries were reported and there were no pedestrians in the area at the time.

A call for service was received regarding a “three-legged” bear in the Second Line and Black Road area. The animal was scared into the bush by officers. This animal has frequented this area and has been the subject of numerous calls to police since last fall.  The animal has an old injury to a leg and walks on three legs.  Citizens are reminded that these animals will seek out food sources in urban areas including garbage, bird feeders and barbeques.

Arrests/Charged Persons: 

On May 16, 2013 the accused age 28, turned himself in at the police station regarding outstanding domestic matters.  It is alleged that on May 10, 2013 the accused sent texted messages to his ex-wife while being on conditions to have no contact with her.  On May 10, 2013 the accused attended at the residence of his ex-wife and made threats to cause bodily harm to a third party.  The accused is charged with breach of a recognizance X 3 and threatening bodily harm.  The accused will appear in bail court on May 17, 2013 at 10:00 am.
