POLICE SERVICES ACT CHARGES Constable Micheal Rose, a 5-year member of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service, has been charged under the Police Services Act as a result of an internal investigation.
POLICE SERVICES ACT CHARGES

Constable Micheal Rose, a 5-year member of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service, has been charged under the Police Services Act as a result of an internal investigation.

Constable Rose has been charged with 2 counts of Discreditable Conduct, 2 counts of Breach of Confidence, 2 counts of Insubordination, and one count of Neglect of Duty under the Police Services Act. The charges relate to the officer’s personal association to an individual presently before the courts on drug charges.

Constable Rose was suspended from duty with pay effective Sunday, October 5, 2008.

A first appearance date for the Police Services Act charges has been set for June 18, 2009 at the Police Service’s building, 580 Second Line East, Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.

Domestic Related Arrests:

1) A 43 year-old male was arrested on the 4th of June at 8:34 pm on Moss Road and charged with one count of assault, one count of threaten death or bodily harm, one count of breach of probation, one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. Around 8:23 pm on the 4th of June, city police received a call from a witness that observed a mini van in the area of Korah Road and Second Line West that was being driven erratically and the male driver was assaulting his female passenger. It is alleged that when officers were able to stop and check the van on Moss Road they learned that the female passenger was the girlfriend of the driver, the accused, that she been grabbed at and threatened by him and that he also attempted to push her out of the vehicle twice while it was in operation. The accused was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation with conditions that he not molest, harass or annoy the victim. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

2) A 40 year-old male was arrested on the 4th of June at 8:19 pm just outside a west end residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that while at his residence he got into a verbal argument with his common law partner and assaulted her by punching her in the face and when she fell to the ground he kicked her several times. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

3) A 55 year-old male was arrested at the police station after turning himself in on an outstanding warrant for a domestic related assault that occurred on May 11th. He was charged with one count of assault and is to appear in court on the 15th of July.

Female Shoplifter Charged:

38 year-old Stephanie Murray of #1-676 Second Line West was charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00 yesterday afternoon at 2:54 pm at the Wal-Mart. It is alleged that the accused attended at the store just before 2 pm, removed price tags from some baby clothing and placed them in her purse. When the accused left the store she was apprehended by security and held for police. She is to appear in court on the 13th of July.

Property Crimes:

Thefts:


• Bistro Patio furniture set was stolen from the property of a residence on Laurier Avenue at approximately 1:20 am this morning. The suspect vehicle was described as an older grey Ford pick up extended cab.
• A green BMX Fit Street bike was stolen from the east side of the Cambrian Mall yesterday around 8 pm.

Mischief Reports:

• Sometime overnight on the 4th of June, sand was put in the engine area of Mack dump truck that was parked at a property in the 200 block of Fifth Line East.
• A vehicle parked on the Drive had lipstick graffiti left on it.
• A window was broken and a screen was cut at a residence in the 1000 block of Queen Street East.

Break and Enter Report:

A residence on Pim Street was entered sometime between 11:30pm and 1:30 am on the 5th of June. A play station, games and DVD’s were reported stolen.
