Thefts from vehicles from last night were reported to City Police today. Vehicles in the 500 block of John St., 600 block of McDonald Ave., were entered and sunglasses, keys and loose change were stolen.
A white Giant Avalanche bike was reported stolen from the area of the Mill Market earlier today.
On June 18 around 11:30 p.m., officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended on St. Mary’s River Drive for a single motor vehicle collision. A red mustang was travelling southbound on St. Mary’s River Drive in the 200 block area at a fast rate of speed and lost control on the curve. The vehicle fishtailed, crossed the centre line, drove over the curb, struck a light post and then a brick flower garden before coming to a stop. The driver was not harmed. Damage to the vehicle is described as moderate.
23-year-old Adam Clow of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan has been charged with one count of stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act. As a result of the stunt driving charge the driver’s licence is automatically suspended for 7 days and his vehicle is also impounded for 7 days.
On June 18, 2015 at 8 p.m., Sault Ste Marie police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the downtown area. Investigation revealed that the accused a 46-year-old male had assaulted his estranged girlfriend by stepping on her feet and spitting in her face. The accused also threatened to kill the victim and her new boyfriend. The victim also disclosed a prior domestic assault and threatening to police. The accused was located, arrested and charged with two counts of domestic assault and three counts of threatening. The accused will appear in bail court on June 19.
