PATRICIA CORMIER has been located today at approx 16:00 hrs in Station Mall in Good Health.

The Sault Ste Marie City Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing person. Last evening at approx. 7:20 PM Patricia Cormier left a group home on Salisbury Ave to go to the mall. She was due to return by 10:00 PM but did not. Patricia is described as: White, female, 5’6’ tall, approx. 200 lbs, heavy set, has short straight brown hair, wears glasses and is mentally challenged. She was last seen wearing grey shorts and a grey t- shirt. Anyone seeing this person is asked to contact the City Police.

Vehicle Fires

The Sault Ste Marie Fire Dept. and the City Police are investigating three reports of vehicle fires in the downtown area. The fires are being treated as arson. The incidents took place on Tower St., where a truck was set on fire at approx. 4:00 AM. and at the Autoways car lot located at 826 Queen St.E. At this second location the fires were started inside the vehicles. Extent of damage to the vehicles is not known at this time. Anyone hat may have seen any suspicious persons in either of these two locations is asked to call the Sault Ste Marie Police Detective Office.

3 Males Arrested for Drug Offences

Yesterday morning a routine traffic stop resulted in the arrest of three males for various drug offences. At approx. 7:30 AM City Police stopped a car on Northland Rd. When the officer went to speak to the driver he noticed a baggie containing a white powder substance on the front seat. Further investigation result in the discovery of more drugs. The three males in the vehicle were all subsequently arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

The accused are:
1. Jeremy David Little, of 305 Huron St Apt. # 2.
2. James Francis Bolan, of 95 Wemyss St.
3.Garnet Sean Hanifan, of 43 London St.

All three will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.

Assault Charges

Yesterday afternoon City Police arrested a young person in connection with an incident that took place in the early morning yesterday. It is alleged that the youth attended an address near the intersection of John St. and Wellington St.E. and committed a break and enter. At the time of the break in the accused was carrying a baseball bat and used the bat to assault the tenant inside. Tenant was struck several times before he could defend himself and eventually flee from premises. The accused will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM. The City Police are continuing their investigation on this matter and further arrests are anticipated.

Males Charged with Break and Enter

Last night at approx. 10:40 PM two males forced their way into a residence in the 300 block of Albert St.W. and attempted to assault a male with a baseball bat. The two accused are alleged to have caused mischief to the premises and were attempting to take items as a result of a debt owed to one of the accused. The victim reports that one of the accused had swung a baseball bat at him. Police attended and arrested the two accused.Eric Richard Mousseau, of 366 Korah Rd, is charged with Break and Enter. He will be appearing in court on Monday Aug 29th at 9:00 AM.

Gary Chad Barkley, of 31 Algoma Ave, is charged with Break and Enter, Mischief and Assault with a Weapon. Mr. Barkley will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00AM.

Ride Program

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service was operating a R.I.D.E. Program last night. The results are as follows:

360 vehicles stopped

Four 12-hour suspensions were issued.
One Impaired Driver Arrested.

At approx. 2:20 AM this morning the City Police R.I.D.E. Program stopped a vehicle on Pim St. Upon speaking to the driver it was discovered that the driver was impaired by alcohol. At this time the driver, Shawn Harriman, of 171 Church St, was arrested for Impaired Driving and Driver over .80mgs. He will be appearing in Court on Monday Aug 29th at 9:00 AM.


Break and Enters

The City Police are investigating 4 Break and Enters that occurred ion the past 24 hours. Break and Enters were reported at:


1. Esquire Honda, 494 Great Northern Rd. At this location thieves cut the rear fence and stole a Honda dirt bike.

2. A residence in the 100 block of Bloor St. W. was entered and a32” TV was stolen.

3. A garage at a residence in the 300 block of Nixon Rd. was entered and a Banchi 4 wheeler was stolen.

4. A garage at a residence in the 100 block of Cabot Cr. was entered and a bike was stolen.
