MAN ROBBED AT KNIFEPOINT
Yesterday at 3:30 am, at a residence on Alexandra Street, Kenneth Horan, age 36 of Hwy. 17 Agawa Bay, allegedly placed a knife to the throat of an adult male victim demanding money from him. The accused made numerous threats to kill the victim if he screamed or did not co-operate.
The accused then punched the victim in the face twice causing him to bleed. The victim advised Horan he did not have any money on him but could access some at the bank. The accused forced the victim to Mike's Mart on Gore Street by knifepoint to get some cash out of an A.T.M.
The victim was able to summons help and the police were contacted. Patrol officers went to the store and arrested Horan. A knife was located on the accused in his right rear pocket. Officers charged him with Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Attempted Robbery. He went to bail court yesterday.
TRAFFIC SNARLED AT WAL-MART
Yesterday at 8:40 am, the police service responded to a motor vehicle collision on Great Northern Road near the entrance to Wal-Mart. Officers advised the dispatchers that potential traffic jams could occur in the area because of the opening of the store.
During the day the police service continued to receive minor traffic related complaints in relation to traffic congestion at/near Wal-Mart. The public is reminded to obey all traffic laws in relation to entering and exiting the new Wal-Mart location and to exercise patience when parking or entering/exiting the area.
DRUG BUST
Yestreday at 12:25 pm, police officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit and the Emergency Services Unit executed a Controlled Drug Substance Act search warrant upon the residence of a Justin Jones, age 21 at 68 Hillside Drive.
As a result of the search, officers located 15 grams of cannabis resin in three equally volumed glass vials, $480 in cash, a digital weigh scale, audiovox cell phone, packaging material and an address book.
Justin Jones was located in the residence at the time and arrested accordingly. Jones was on probation at the time with a condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
Jones has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Drug, Possession of Stolen Property and Breach of Probation. He will appear in court March 10th.
ASSAULTED AT HIGH SCHOOL
Yesterday at approximately 12:30 pm, a 16-year-old male punched another young male several times in the back of the head while in the cafeteria at one of the city's high schools.
At 4:05 pm the accused went to the police station with his father and was arrested and charged with assault. He will appear in court in early March.
ARRESTED FOR THREATENING TO KILL TEACHER
On January 14, a 16-year-old male wrote a note to his the teacher at a local youth institution. In the note the youth described how he was going to kill the victim's spouse, burn their house and kill the victim as well.
The note was located in his room by youth center staff. Yesterday afternoon patrol officers arrested and charged the youth with threatening death. He will appear in bail court today.
STATION MALL ASSAULT
Yesterday at approximately 7:12 pm, a 22-year-old male had a heated argument with his 22-year-old common law wife in the Station Mall.
The male was yelling and swearing at her, disturbing the numerous patrons nearby. He also grabbed the female's wallet and threw it away. He then pushed her forcefully before security guards intervened.
Patrol officers were called and arrested and charged the male with Assault, Causing a Disturbance and Breach of Probation. He will appear in bail court today.
ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT
At 3:18 this morning patrol officers were called to a residence on Tilley Road following a complaint that a female was being assaulted.
Officers learned that David Abernot, age 29 of 183 Tilley Road was in a taxicab with a 26 year old female returning to his residence from a local bar, when Abernot allegedly assaulted the female in the rear of the cab by punching her several times in the face.
The female had redness to the right side of her face. Officers arrested and charged Abernot with Assault. He will appear in court March 3rd.
STOLEN SNOWMOBILE
At 10:20 pm last evening, a male reported that his 2000 Arctic Cat Pantara licence number 869885 was stolen from the staging area on Trunk Rd. The snow machine is described as light blue and green metallic in colour with an artic cat luggage bag in the back rack.
The theft occurred sometime between 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm. Anyone with information on this theft is asked to contact the Police Service at 949-6300 or Crime stoppers.
