TEENS ARRESTED AT CUSTOMS WITH STOLEN VAN
Yesterday at 3:43 pm at Canada Customs, a16-year-old male, along with a 16-year-old female and a17-year-old female from Hamilton, Ontario were arrested for theft of a 1995 GMC Safari van and possession of stolen property.

The three accused were attempting to cross Canada Customs in the van but were stopped by Custom officials. Customs officers detained the young offenders until patrol officers arrived and arrested the youths.

A police records check revealed the van to be stolen from Hamilton, Ontario on the February 5th. Further investigation revealed the van belonged to a friend of one the youth's parents. They will appear in bail court today.


MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULTING WIFE, SON
Yesterday at approximately 5:30 pm, a 43-year-old male assaulted his wife by grabbing her hair, punching her twice in the back of the head and dragging her across the floor by her hair.

The husband also assaulted his 12-year-old son at the same time by pushing him in the chest area with both hands very forcefully. The assaults took place at the family residence in the northern section of the City. At 5:56 pm., Officers arrested and charged the male with two counts of Assault. He will appear in bail court today.


ARRESTED FOR INCREDIBLE SHOPLIFTING SPREE
Yesterday at 9:03 pm, police officers were called to Sears at 293 Bay Street when store security observed one male and one female concealing various items throughout the store. Security subsequently arrested these two suspects.

In the possession of one of the accused, Patricia St. Louis, age 22 of 228 #1 Huron Street, were items from Sears as well as 8 figurines and 3 Precious Moments plush key chains from Wendy's China Cabinet.

There were also 8 pairs of earrings from Bennardo Jewellers, one stuffed animal from San Francisco as well as two stuffed "My Angel Teddy Bears", 2 hearts one embroidered "Jason" and one "Patricia", one unique collection, 2"x3" picture frame and one "To My Wife" candle from unknown sources.

The male, Jason Mark, age 22 of Boundary Road, was found in possession of two items from Sears. Total value of the stolen property is estimated in excess of $1,100.00.

St. Louis has been charged with Theft under $5,000.00 and four counts of Possession of Stolen Property. Mark has been charged with Theft under $5,000.00 and Possession of Stolen Property. Both will appear in bail court today.


TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS
Yesterday, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated 15 motor vehicle collisions. Most were minor in nature. Drivers need to use extra care when driving in the winter.

With snow bank heights increasing, visibility at intersections is reduced. Motorists are reminded to be extra vigilante when approaching intersecting roadways.

A homeowner on Breton Road advised Police shortly after 10:00 pm that his house on Breton Road had been broken into. Officers are investigating this occurrence and are requesting you, if you have any information, to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 949-6300 or Crime Stoppers.
