Male Arrested for Stealing Ford Escape
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 34 year-old Shawn Blais, of 84 Central Street, on the 4th of February at 1:50 am at his residence and charged him with one count of theft over $5,000, one count of possession of stolen property and two counts of breach of probation.

It is alleged that on the night of 4th of February the accused stole a Ford Escape from a person known to him on Central Street. Police were called by the owner at approximately 1:40 am and when on route to their home, they observed the accused driving the stolen vehicle on Bonney Street in the area of Central Street. Police stopped the vehicle and the accused was subsequently arrested.

At the time of the incident the accused was on two probation orders with conditions that he keep the peace and be good.

Sault Ste Marie Police Service officers arrest four for Domestic Related Incidents
1) A 30 year-old male was arrested on the 3rd of February at 1:20 pm at his residence and charged with one count of assault, one count of theft under $5,000, one count of mischief and one count of resist arrest. It is alleged that the accused got into a verbal argument with his common law spouse at their residence, assaulted her damaged inside the home and stole some of her personal belongings. When police were arresting the accused, he resisted arrest.

2) A 30 year-old male was arrested at 9:42 pm on the 3rd of February and charged with one count of criminal harassment, one count of breach of a recognizance order and one count of obstruct justice. It is alleged that on the 1st of October 2010 the accused was charged with domestic assault on his common law spouse and was released the following day on a recognizance order with conditions that he not communicate with the victim and he was also to residence with his surety at another residence.

Since the order, the accused has continuously contacted the victim by calling her, texting her and leaving numerous messages. The accused continuously asked the victim to change her story and lie to police regarding the domestic incident. Officers also discovered that the accused was staying at another residence and not with his surety.

3) A 45 year-old female was arrested on the 3rd of February at 11:35 pm at her residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 3rd of February the accused got into a verbal argument with her ex-common law spouse at her residence and assaulted him.

4) A 22 year-old female was arrested on the 4th of February at 2:50 am and charged with one count of assault, one count of mischief, one count of break and enter and two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that at approximately 2:20 am this morning, the accused forced her way into her girlfriend’s apartment, got into a verbal argument with her and assaulted her. The accused also damaged several items and furniture inside the apartment. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as result of the assault.

Male Arrested for Break and Enter
On the 2nd of February, Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service completed an investigation into an Albert Street West residence break which occurred on the 1st of February in which a Dremel tool kit, jewellery and clothing were reported stolen. As a result of their investigation, officers have charged 44 year-old Dwayne Guy of #8-198 James Street with one count of possession of stolen property and two counts of breach of probation. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Shoplifter Arrested
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 77 year-old Kathleen Black of 248 Fourth Line East at 12:41 pm yesterday at the Metro Store on Northern Avenue. It is alleged that she attended at the store yesterday afternoon and stole a number of items. She was apprehended by store security and held for police. She is to appear in court on the 7th of March.

Property Crimes
• An apartment on Cathcart was broken into overnight. The apartment was ransacked. It is not known what was taken.
• Vehicles were entered Bush Street and Morin Street. Money and tools were reported taken.
