Two Males with Numerous Charges

Yesterday afternoon, officers were called to the Super 8 motel at 184 Great Northern Road to have two people vacate room #234. The room had not been paid for and as a result the caretaker wanted them to leave. Both accused persons left the room upon police request. An examination of articles left behind revealed 3 stolen handguns. Police seized the guns and shortly thereafter they located and arrested 19yr old Farron Wetherald of 89 Hudson Avenue, at 184 Great Northern Road and at 6:00pm they located and arrested the second accused 27yr old Paul Whalen of 187 Careful Avenue, at 171 Willow Avenue. Both have been charged with 3 counts of possession of property obtained by crime, 3 counts of unauthorized possession of firearms, 3 counts of possession of firearm knowing possession unauthorized, 3 counts of possession of restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition, 3 counts of possession of weapon obtained by crime, and 3 counts of careless storage of a firearm. Paul Whalen was additionally charged with 1 count of breach of probation order, and Farron Wetherald was additionally charged with possession of a controlled drug. Both will appear in bail court today.

Two Males Charged with Assault

Yesterday evening Police responded to a domestic dispute in the East end of the city. It is alleged that one male assaulted an other male by pushing him against the wall and by attempting to break his fingers. The second male assaulted the other by chocking and punching him. Both were arrested and charged with 1 count of assault. They will both appear in court on January 31st.

Female Charged with Theft

A 44yr old female will appear in court on February 14th, after being caught shoplifting. It is alleged that the accused Charlene Kwissiwa of 215 John Street, was at Wal-Mart and took a box of macaroons off a shelf, opened it and ate the macaroons without paying for them. She then left the store. She was apprehended a short time later outside the store by an employee and police were called. Charlene Kwissiwa has been charged with 1 count of theft.

Three Youths Charged

Early this morning officers were on Farwell Terrace taking a report of a stolen vehicle that had been taken from the White Eagle Club located on Goulais Avenue. Officers noticed the stolen vehicle drive past them and began to follow it. Three people exited the vehicle on Donna Street and began to run from Police. After a short foot pursuit two of the youths were apprehended and charged with 1 count each of possession of house breaking tools and 1 count each of possession of property obtained by crime. 20yr old Glen Pelchat of 320 Patrick Street was later apprehended on Sydenham Street. He has been charged with 1 count of possession of house breaking tools and 2 counts of possession of property obtained by crime. They will all appear in bail court today.
