Male to appear in bail court: Early this morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 55-year-old male for assault, threatening and forcible confinement.

Male to appear in bail court:

Early this morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 55-year-old male for assault, threatening and forcible confinement. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his common-law partner and then prevented her from leaving the residence. It is also alleged that the accused threatened to kill a friend of the victim. At the time of these offences the accused was on an undertaking release order. The accused is charged with one count of assault, one count of forcible confinement, two counts of uttering threats and one count of breach of an undertaking. The victim did not require medical attention.

Female arrested for theft under $ 5,000:

Yesterday evening members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 47-year-old female for theft under $ 5,000. It is alleged that the accused entered the Sears Store, in the Station Mall, and stole a bottle of cologne and a baseball cap. The accused was apprehended by store security and turned over to police. The value of the items stolen was $ 123.00 Pamela Harvey, age 47, of 770 Wellington St. E. is charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000. Ms Harvey is to appear in court on Jan. 30th at 9:00 am.

Break and enter:

A residence in the 100 block of Carufel Ave was entered. A quantity of electronic items was stolen.

A residence in the 100 block of Wellington St. W. was entered. It is unknown at this time what was taken.

Mischief:

A vehicle was damaged in the 200 block of Prentice Ave.

Robbery:

Yesterday evening at approximately 5:45 pm city police were called to a residence in the 800 block of Bonney St regarding a robbery. In the incident a male resident was approached by two suspects and robbed at gun point of his prescription medication. The suspects are described as follows:

  1. Male, white, 6’2” or 6’3” tall, slim build, 180 lbs, wearing a black Carhart type jacket, a black balaclava and a dark coloured hoodie. This person was carrying a black handgun.

  2. This person is described as possibly being a female, 5’7” tall, 120 lbs, wearing a black hoodie and a balaclava over her face. This person was carrying what appeared to be a fire extinguisher canister.

The victim did not know which way the suspects fled after obtaining his prescription medication.

Last night at approximately 10:20 pm city police were called to Wardlaw Fuels, 207 Wellington St. W. regarding an armed robbery. In the incident a lone male entered the store, produced a knife on the clerk and demanded the money from the cash till. The suspect is then believed to have fled on a bicycle in an unknown direction. Suspect is described as: Male, white, wearing a black and grey jacket, blue jeans, a red scarf over his face and purple gloves.

Male to appear in bail court:

Early this morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 19-year-old male for impaired driving, dangerous driving and flight from police. It is alleged that the accused fled from a police R.I.D.E. program, on McNabb St. at 2:00 am this morning. It alleged that in fleeing from the police the accused was driving in a dangerous manner- failed to stop for stop signs and traffic signal lights and excessive speed. Officers continued to follow the accused until his vehicle struck a building at the intersection of Wellington St. E. and East St. At this location it is alleged that the accused fled on foot and was subsequently arrested after a short foot pursuit. Upon being arrested it officers noted that the accused was under the influence of alcohol. At the time of these offences the accused was on a probation order release with conditions to keep the peace and be good. Jordan Donofrio, age 19, of 77 Murphy St. is charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of drive over 80 mgs, one count of dangerous driving, one count of flight from police and one count of breach of probation. The accused suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention. The vehicle involved in the collision suffered extensive damage.
