ACCIDENT WITNESS SOUGHT

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service Traffic Section is seeking the assistance anyone that may have witnessed a motor vehicle collision, which occurred at the traffic lights at the entrance to the Cambrian Mall on Great Northern Rd.

The accident occurred yesterday at approx. 8:00 AM. The two vehicles involved in the accident were a black Nissan Pathfinder and a red Honda. Anyone having witnessed the accident is asked to contact the Police Services Traffic Section.

KIDS GET A BREAK

This is just a reminder, that today; the schools will be closing for the Christmas break. Please be aware that children will be out playing and to drive with added care during the break.

R.I.D.E PROGRAMS OUT

Don’t forget that the Sault Ste Marie Police and O.P.P. joint R.I.D.E. programs will be out in full force this weekend, if you’re going out to a Christmas Party- “Play it Safe-Take a Cab”. Let’s not see your name in the arrest column on Monday.

Yesterday at approx. 12:20 PM, Paul Daehn, , of 1453 Third Line E. was testing an engine in his Challenger Ultra Light (airplane). As he was taxiing along the runway at 1453 Third Line E. the airplane picked up too much speed and started to lift off.

Mr. Daehn lost control and crashed the airplane into a garage, on his property. Mr. Daehn suffered a broken right leg in the accident and was taken to hospital by ambulance. Air Transport Canada was notified and will be following up on the incident.

BREAK AND ENTER

At about 8:00 AM yesterday morning the Sault Ste Marie City Police were called to a residence in the 300 block of Seventh Ave in regards to a Break and Enter. Culprits entered the premises by forcing a bathroom window. It is not known what was stolen at this time.

DVD’s COSTLY

Yesterday afternoon City Police were called to Rome’s Independent Grocers in regards to an adult shoplifter. It is alleged that Roger Vienneau entered the store and attempted to steal a quantity of DVDs. He was arrested by store security and turned over to police.

Charged with Theft Under $ 5,000.00 is: Roger Vienneau, 27, of 130 Albert St.W. Apt. #3. He will be appearing in court on
Jan. 19th at 9:00 AM. He was found with 10 DVDs in his possession.
