Warrant Executed and Charges Laid Yesterday morning shortly after 7 am officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit, which is comprised of officers from the Sault Ste.
Warrant Executed and Charges Laid

Yesterday morning shortly after 7 am officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit, which is comprised of officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, the OPP Drug Enforcement Section, the RCMP and the OPP North East Region, attended at an address on Cambridge Place and executed a search warrant. Officers from the Emergency Services Unit as well as patrol officers assisted them. Officers located approximately 7.2 grams of cocaine, 16.6 grams of marihuana and small amounts of cannabis resin and cannabis hashish. The estimated street value of the narcotic is $1,060. Officers also located a shotgun shell and a knife that opens with centrifugal force. 4 persons have been charged in relation to this incident:

1) 24-year old Joseph Cellini of 305-115 Cambridge Place has been charged with one count of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, 4 counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of resist police, one count of careless storage of ammunition and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon.

2) 26-year old Kevin Bennett of 10-874 Queen Street East has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, four counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of careless storage of ammunition and one count of possession contrary to court order.

3) 18-year old Navarre Cellini (male) of 305-115 Cambridge Place has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, four counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of careless storage of ammunition, and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon.

4) 19-year old Adam Black of no fixed address has been charged with four counts of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, 4 counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, two counts of possession contrary to a court order, four counts of breach of probation, one count of assault, one count of threatening and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

In regards to the accused Adam Black it is alleged that on the 12th of December the accused threatened a teenage male youth. It is further alleged that between October and December the accused assaulted the same youth. It is alleged that on December 12th the accused was in possession of property that had been taken from a break and enter to a home on Granville Crescent on that date.

All four accused persons will appear in bail court this morning.

Stolen Plates & Drug Charges

Yesterday afternoon shortly after 3 pm officers from Patrol Services stopped a vehicle on Northern Avenue which allegedly had two stolen licence plates on it. During the course of their investigation officers also located 4 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $400. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were both charged and arrested. It is further alleged that on December 7th of this year the male accused conspired with two other person to purchase a sawed off shot gun. Officers had seized the firearm during the course of their investigation on December 7th. The following accused persons will appear in bail court this morning:

1) The passenger, 18-year old Melanie Vallee of 24 Allan Street, has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance.

2) The driver, 19-year old Matthew Lafontaine of 319 North Street, has been charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of conspire trafficking weapon and one count of breach of probation.

Two more persons will appear in bail court this morning:

1) A 21-year old female was arrested and charged yesterday with one count of threatening and one count of criminal harassment. It is alleged that between the 9th of November and the 13th of December the accused made numerous phone calls to her ex-boyfriend. It is further alleged that on the 2nd of December the accused threatened to damage the victim’s vehicle.

2) A 43-year old male was arrested yesterday and charged with one count of assault and one count possession of a firearm contrary to a court order. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his girlfriend by punching her. The accused did not require medical treatment.

Unlawfully in a House, Assault, and Breach

20-year old Brandon Horner of 123 Chicora Crescent was arrested yesterday morning and charged with two counts of unlawfully in a dwelling house, one count of assault and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused entered a residence on Korah Road on two occasions in a short period of time just after midnight on the 14th. The second time the accused entered the residence it is alleged that he assaulted a male in the home. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation. He will appear in court on January 22nd.

Comsume over the Legal Limit & Breach

28-year old Mark Campbell of 17 Genelle Street, Thessalon was arrested and charged with one count of consume over the legal limit and one count of breach of a release order. Officers on routine patrol stopped the accused in a vehicle on Huron Street. It is alleged that accused was under the influence of alcohol. The accused was on a release document with conditions not to consume alcohol. The accused will appear in court on January 22nd.

R.I.D.E Results

Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were conducting the RIDE Program last night. In a 5 hour period 180 vehicles were checked, 8 roadside tests were conducted, 5-12 hour suspensions were issued and 8 other non-criminal charges were laid. The RIDE Program will continue to be out on various times and locations throughout the City during the Holiday Season. Remember don’t drink and drive.

Car Accident on Conmee & Carmen's Way

Yesterday afternoon just after 4 pm officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Traffic Services Section attended at Conmee Avenue and Carmen’s Way for a motor vehicle collision that sent one person to Sault Area Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 49-year old male was traveling northbound on Carmen’s Way in a white SUV. A green SUV operated by a 46-year old female was traveling westbound on Conmee Avenue and allegedly failed to stop for the stop sign. The vehicles collided in the intersection and the white SUV spun, left the roadway and ended up in a ditch. The green SUV also spun but remained on the roadway. The green vehicle sustained severe damage and the white vehicle was demolished. The 46-year old female driver has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of disobey stop sign-fail to stop.
