Evening news A 34 year old male was arrested at 6:00am this morning when he turned himself in to police on an outstanding warrant for failing to re-attend court on charges stemming from a dated domestic incident with his female partner.

A 34 year old male was arrested at 6:00am this morning when he turned himself in to police on an outstanding warrant for failing to re-attend court on charges stemming from a dated domestic incident with his female partner. He appeared in bail court this morning.

A 19 year old male was arrested this morning and charged with offenses in relation to a domestic incident with his female partner.  He has been charged with assault, choking the victim to aid in the commission of the assault as well as threatening death.  He appeared in bail court this morning.

At 10:30 this morning the Sault Ste. Marie Police Fraud unit arrested 53 year old Cynthia Jacobs of 65 Gehrig Drive, Sault Ste. Marie and charged her with Fraud over $5000.  It is alleged that between April 2006 and October 2012 the accused defrauded Algoma University of money in the amount of $391,455.  She has a court date of January 14th, 2013.

29 year old Matthew Wight of 66 Country Club Place turned himself into police this morning for missing his fingerprint date in October 2012.  He was released with a court date of January 14th, 2013.

At 11:20am this morning a resident attended home to the 300 block of Bloor Street West.  He discovered a break and enter in progress, the lone male had pried open a door to gain entry.  The homeowner wrestled with the male but could not hold him for police to arrive.  He fled on foot to a bicycle and left the area.  A black gym bag with items from the residence was left behind.  The suspect left empty handed.  The suspect is described as in his 20’s with a bald head wearing a black and green jacket.

This afternoon a 50 year old male was arrested on four outstanding warrants over alleged domestic breach of conditions for communicating with his ex-female partner.  The four separate occurrences happened between October 2012 and December 2012.  He will appear in bail court Monday.

A break and enter occurred today between 8:00am and 1:00pm in the 300 block of Reid Street.  A patio door was forced open and stolen were 2 laptops and a GPS unit.

Morning news

37 year old Christine Miller of 346 Albert St. W. was arrested by Patrol Officers on the 13th of December on a warrant for failing to attend court from June the 6th 2012. She will be appearing in Bail Court later this morning.

Update: Home Invasion Overnight

Officers with the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are currently seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects involved in a home invasion last evening.  At about 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Breton Road with regards to two unknown males entering the residence carrying bear spray and a handgun. 

The first male was described as a white male in his mid 20’s with black curly hair.  He was the shorter of the two and was wearing a black hoodie and grey pants.  The second male was described as being a bit younger than the first male; just under 6 feet tall, with a skinny build.  He had dark brown hair with tanned skin.  One of the males was wearing a grey and red ball cap at the time of the incident.   

The victims sustained minor injuries in this incident and were able to contact 911 while the suspects were still in the residence.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Earlier release:

City Police officers attended to an east end apartment complex late Thursday night after receiving a call that two males had forced their way into the complainant’s apartment. Further information received by officers on scene indicated that the two males were in possession of a handgun and bear mace. The two occupants of the apartment sustained minor injuries in fighting off their attackers. No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation will be continuing.

Break and enters were reported to 3 residences within the last 12 hours. Entry was gained by kicking in doors to 2 west end homes. Thieves made off with jewellery and an amount of collector coins from the 1930’s from one home and a play station 3, an iPod and various rings from the other. A home in the 300 block of Bush Street also had a door kicked in and jewellery, a Nintendo Wii and a Playstation were taken. All incidents occurred during the late afternoon and early evening hours.
