MAN ANNOYS GIRLFRIEND A 49-year-old male will be appearing in bail court this morning after City Police arrested him shortly after lunch yesterday.

A 49-year-old male will be appearing in bail court this morning after City Police arrested him shortly after lunch yesterday. He had been released on the 22nd of August with a number of terms including staying away from his ex-girlfriend’s place and not to molest, harass or annoy her.

The accused had been arrested on the 21st of August after the complainant reported he was repeatedly phoning her, had been asleep in her yard and had sat outside her front window watching her. He had been charged with one count of criminal harassment and one count of trespass by night and had a court date of September 27th.

Yesterday he was hiding in the bushes across the street from her east-end residence when the complainant called the police. He was arrested within a short distance of the victim’s residence. He has been charged with 2 counts of breach of a release document.


CAUGHT WITH STOLEN CAR
25-year-old David Dettrick of Sherbourne, Quebec will appear in bail court this morning after he was found to be in possession of a stolen car. The male and a passenger were observed yesterday afternoon in the car, and once it was confirmed the car was reported stolen, Mr. Dettrick and the passenger were arrested.

Mr. Dettrick and a 17-year-old youth will both appear in bail court after being charged with one count of possession of stolen property. The youth was also charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance after a search of the youth located 2 joints.


THREE MALES ASSAULT ONE
Yesterday afternoon three males assaulted another male. It is alleged that 24-year-old Martin Vine of 772 Wellington Street East tackled the victim as he was on the outside steps of a residence, causing the railing to fall off and the victim to fall to the ground. Martin Vine then allegedly punched the victim in the face and threatened to harm him further.

Once the victim was on the floor, 21-year-old Mario Inookie Vine of 770 Wellington Street East allegedly punched him several times and jumped on his back, as did 24-year-old Steven Barry Nicholson of 138 East Street.

Once placed in the police cruiser Martin Vine started to kick the door of the cruiser with enough force that there was concern that the window and door were going to be broken. When officers tried to calm him down he threatened them, and began to spit and continued to kick the cruiser door until he arrived at the police station.

The victim of the assault was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Mario Vine was charged with one count of assault, and Steven Nicholson was charged with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation. They will both appear in court on October 4th.

Martin Vine has been charged with one count of assault, once count of breach of probation, 2 counts of threatening, and one count of mischief. He will be appearing in bail court this morning.


FRAUD AT SAVOY’S
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Fraud Unit has arrested and charged Yvonne Pountney age 58 yrs. of Simon Street with one count of fraud exceeding $5,000.00. It is alleged that Mrs. Pountney allegedly defrauded Savoy's Jewellers of approximately $302,000.00 while employed there as bookkeeper for 19 years. She will appear in court on October 4.


BREAK & ENTER
Yesterday City Police received a report of a break and enter into a shed in the 100 block of Chestnut Street where a number of tools had been taken.

Another homeowner in the same area reported finding some tools, which police were able to identify as those that were taken from the break and enter. They were returned to their rightful owner.
