Two persons will appear in bail court this morning
1) Just after 1:30 am this morning officers on routine patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically in the downtown area. Officers stopped the vehicle on Herrick Street and when they approached the driver they noted that he showed signs of impairment. It is alleged that the accused was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. 29-year old James Nageleisen of 1315 Hammond Street, North Bay was arrested and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of fail to provide a breath sample.
2) 27-year old Michael Fournier of no fixed address was arrested yesterday morning and charged with one count of unlawfully at large. It is alleged that in May of 2005 the accused failed to report for his weekend sentencing at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Center. A warrant was subsequently requested for the accused.
Women Gets Charged for Biting
35-year old Debra Fitzgerald of upstairs-641 Queen Street West was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 23rd of August the accused assaulted a female known to her by biting her in the arm. The victim received medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The accused will appear in court on September 25th.
Update on Wednesday Afternoon Crash

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 4:40 pm emergency personnel from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, Sault Fire Services and Sault Ambulance Services attended at the intersection of Queen Street East and Brock Street for a motor vehicle collision with injuries. A vehicle operated by a 66-year old female was stopped on Brock Street facing south. A car operated by a 39-year old female was westbound on Queen Street East. A van operated by a 45-year old male was northbound on Brock Street. It is alleged that the westbound car proceeded through a red light and struck the northbound van. The van then slid onto it’s side and struck the vehicle that had been stopped on Brock Street facing south. The driver of the van was taken to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Both the car and van that had been moving received severe damage. Damage reports to the vehicle that was struck by the sliding van are not available at the time of this release. The investigation is continuing.
Update: The 39-year old female driver of the car has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of red light fail to stop.
Break & Enter
Yesterday morning the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended at Parks Canada on Canal Drive for a break and enter. Sometime between 6 pm on the 23rd and 8 am on the 24th the building was broken into and nothing at this time appears to have been taken. Robbing The Children
Early yesterday morning an attempt break and enter was reported at Sir James Dunn High School on Wellington Street East.
More Bear Sightings
Yesterday afternoon City Police received one report regarding a bear sighting. Two bears were in the tree line area near Glengary Gate Crescent.
