Motor Vehicle Collision at Lake Street and Truck Road

On the 22nd of August 2013 at approximately 9:15 pm emergency personnel from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and Sault Fire Services attended at the intersection of Lake Street and Truck Road for a motor vehicle collision with injuries.

A white car was travelling westbound on Trunk Road.  A black van had been southbound on Lake Street and was in the intersection turning east onto Trunk Road.  It is alleged that the driver of the white car failed to stop for the red light and struck the van. 

The driver and passenger from the van were taken to the Sault Area Hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Damage to the car is described as severe and the van was demolished.

The driver of the white car, 79-year old Jean-Guy Lemay 210-334A Dacey Road, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with one count of red light-fail to stop.

August 23rd morning news

A homeowner in the 300 block of Shannon Road reported that their home was broken into sometime between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on the 22nd of August. Two flat screen televisions, a laptop computer and an X-Box 360 were reported stolen.

A residence in the 100 block of Primrose Avenue was broken into. Sometime between 2:50 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. unknown persons broke in and stole a Mac book pro, some jewelry and a camera.

39 year old Louise Desmoulin of 346 Albert Street W #2 was arrested and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of a release document. It is alleged that on August 22nd she stole a pair of blue jeans from Suzy Shier in the station mall. At the time of the offence she was on a release document with a condition to not be at the station mall. She will be appearing in bail court this morning.

22 year old Adrianna Costello of 142 Albert Street E will be appearing in bail court this morning. It is alleged that on August 22nd she went to Sears in the station mall and attempted to steal approximately $650 worth of men’s clothing. When she was stopped by store security she assaulted both of the security officers by attempting to bite one of them and by scratching the other. She was charged with one count of theft under $5000 and two counts of assault.

A 53 year old male was arrested as a result of a domestic violence incident. It is alleged that on the 21st of August the accused was intoxicated and became involved in an argument with his partner. The accused is alleged to have grabbed her by the arm, held her against a shelf and raised his fist as if to strike her. The accused then left the area in his vehicle. Police were called and as they were checking the area for the accused’s vehicle he returned to the home. Police attended at the home where they found the accused to be exhibiting signs of being impaired by alcohol. The accused was arrested for assault and impaired driving and was transported to the station where breath testing was completed. The victim further disclosed that in June the accused had assaulted her by hitting her on the arm with a vacuum cleaner hose. In both cases she received injuries that did not require medical attention. The accused is charged with one count of assault, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of impaired driving and one count of driving with over the legal limit of alcohol in his body. He will be appearing in bail court today.

A 19 year old male will be appearing in bail court on domestic related charges. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his girlfriend on August 22nd by hitting her in the stomach with his elbow. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with a condition to not communicate with the victim and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged that the day prior the accused had communicated with the victim as well. He is charged with one count of assault and 3 counts of breach of probation.
