Police arrest 9 Females in Prostitution Initiative

Members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service's Street Team with the assistance of Patrol Services have wrapped up an initiative targeting street level prostitution in the city's downtown core.  This initiative included an undercover operation running from Monday August 13th to Thursday August 16th.  As a result of this initiative, 9 females have been arrested and a total of 19 criminal charges have been laid.

Charged in connection with this initiative are;

1. 22 year old Tina WABOOSE of No Fixed Address, one count of prostitution

2. 22 year old Hannah HARVEY of 171 Gore Street unit 5, two counts of prostitution, three counts of breach of probation and one count of breach of undertaking

3. 38 year of Crystal HARVEY of 171 Gore Street unit 5, one count of prostitution

4. 41 year of Kim WHITE of 130 Churchill Blvd, one count of prostitution

5. 33 year old Elizabeth NEVITT of 14 Blutcher Street, one count of prostitution, two counts of breach of probation and one count of breach of undertaking

6. 36 year old Elsie ROBERTS of 165 Albert Street West, one count of prostitution

7. 20 year old Elissa MCLARTY of No Fixed Address, two counts of prostitution

8. 19 year old Kaitland LAFORGE of 421 Connaught Ave, one count of breach of probation

9. 28 year old Crystal L'HEUREUX of 549 Cathcart Street, one count of prostitution.

Eight of the accused's will appear in court on September 17th of this year, however Hannah HARVEY was held for bail court.

DOMESTIC ARRESTS: 

On August 16, 2012, police arrested a male subject in relation to a domestic breach.  The accused age 28 is charged with breaching a court release (recognizance).  The accused was not to communicate with the victim and did.  The accused will appear in bail court on Friday August 17, 2012 and 10:00am.

On August 16, 2012 police arrested a male subject in relation to a domestic matter.  It is alleged that after a verbal argument with the victim the accused threatened to cause serious bodily harm or death to the victim.  The accused age 25 will appear in bail court on Friday August 17, 2012 at 10:00am.

On August 16, 2012 police arrested a female subject in relation to a domestic matter. It is alleged that after a physical confrontation with the victim the accused assaulted the victim by pulling his hair out and punching him in the face.  The accused age 38 is charged with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation and will appear in bail court on August 17, 2012 at 9:00am.

ARREST

On August 17, 2012 police arrested a thirteen year old male at 1:00 o’clock in the morning. He was found to be breaching his probation order that had been imposed on him for an 8 PM to 6 AM curfew. Subsequent to arrest, a search revealed several individually wrapped packages containing various drugs. The youth will be in bail court charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, and breach of probation x 2.

VEHICLE COLLISION:

Police, ambulance and the fire department were called to a motor vehicle – city bus collision on Queen Street East at approximately 6:11 pm.  It is alleged that while a city bus was stopped with his emergency flashers on a male driving a van struck the rear of the bus causing moderate damage to the bus and severe damage to the van.  Both vehicles were towed from the scene.  The incident is still under investigation.
