DRIVING WHILE DISQUALIFIED FOR LIFE
Yesterday during the noon hour, patrol officers were doing selective traffic enforcement in the downtown area.
At 12:55 pm they observed the accused, Robert Larocque, age 43 of 546 Wellington Street West, operating a 1991 Isuzu red sedan, as he drove up to the area where they were checking cars on Gore Street.
A police records check revealed he was on a court ordered suspension for life for drinking and driving offences. Larocque was arrested at 1:00 pm and charged with Driving while Disqualified. He will appear in court on September 8th.
DRIVING WHILE DISQUALIFIED
In the spring of 2003 the accused, Gary Chad Barkley, age 31 of 369 Bruce Street, was charged with Driving While Disqualified with a court date in June.
The accused failed to appear in court and warrants were issued for his arrest. Yesterday at 3:30 pm, the accused was arrested on the outstanding arrest warrants for failing to appear court on the 2nd of June 2003. He will appear in bail court today.
WOMAN SEXUALLY ASSAULTED
Yesterday between the hours of 8:30 am and 10:00 am, the victim, a 23-year-old female, was sexually assaulted by the accused, a 38-year-old male from Sault Ste. Marie. The assault occurred at a downtown residence.
The victim was asleep at the home when she was awaked to find the accused sexually assaulting her. Friends of the victim stopped the assault and the accused left the residence.
Police were contacted and officers learned the male and the victim were acquaintances. Yesterday at 4:45 pm, detectives arrested and charged the male with Sexual Assault. He will appear in court on September 8th.
ARRESTED FOR MISCHIEF
On the 25th of July, at approximately 8:55 pm, patrol officers were called to a Salisbury Avenue residence where a person had caused mischief to it and a vehicle. Officers learned that a fire extinguisher was thrown through a car window and the window of an apartment.
Yesterday at 2:35 pm, officers arrested and charged Georgina Mandamin-King, age 20 of 170 Bruce Street with two counts of Mischief. She will appear in court on September 8th.
MAN ASSAULTS WOMAN
Early today at 12:30 am, the accused, a 46-year-old male assaulted his ex-girlfriend by grabbing her throat and pushing her onto the ground. The assault occurred in a downtown residence.
Further, the accused committed mischief by smashing her telephone. The victim received minor injuries. At 12:43 am patrol officers arrested and charged the accused with Assault, Mischief and two counts of Breaching his Recognizance. He will appear in bail court today.
DOMESTIC DISPUTE
Today at 1:30 am, patrol officers were called to another downtown residence for a domestic dispute. Officers learned that the accused and his girlfriend were arguing in their residence when the accused, a 39-year-old male pushed the female victim down.
The female received minor injuries. The male then left the residence. At 2:34 am officers located the male in the area and arrested and charged him with Assault. He will appear in court September 8th.
BREAK & ENTERS
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated several break-ins yesterday. In addition to the home being entered on Adelaide Street, at 5:45 pm staff at Sun Travel on Trunk Road advised that thieves tried to break in but were unsuccessful.
Yesterday at approximately 3:00 pm, patrol officers were called to a home on Adelaide Street for a reported break and enter. Officers learned that the residence had been entered and a small television set had been removed.
The victim had located the television at a nearby residence. At 3:15 pm Wilfred Waboose, age 52 of 77 Adelaide Street was arrested and charged with break, enter and theft. He will appear in bail court today.
At 8:05 pm a residence in the 1200 block of Queen Street East was entered.
At 11:11 pm a person moving in the 1600 block of Wellington Street East advised police that her apartment had been entered but was uncertain if anything was missing.
At 12:53 this morning officers were called to H.M. Robbins School for an attempt break in.
