WARNING TAG SYSTEM TO BE ELIMINATED During the Traffic enforcement campaign from Thursday it appears that 68 drivers were given warnings and 8 drivers received tickets for mostly speeding offences.
WARNING TAG SYSTEM TO BE ELIMINATED
During the Traffic enforcement campaign from Thursday it appears that 68 drivers were given warnings and 8 drivers received tickets for mostly speeding offences. One driver was ticketed for having an expired validation tag on the licence plate.

Speeding tickets issued range from drivers traveling 91 km/hr in a 50-km/hr zone, 89 km/hr in a 50-km/hr zone and 95 km/hr in a 60-km/hr zone.

Motorists are reminded that the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service will soon be eliminating the warning tag system that is designed to educate drivers in regards to the offence they committed and how much their ticket would have been.


MISSED COURT DATE
36-year-old Teresa Lafontaine was arrested yesterday on an outstanding warrant. Ms. Lafontaine was wanted for missing a court date in 2001. She was arrested at a residence on Korah Road without incident and will now appear in court on May 17th.


POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY
70-year-old Franca Orlando will appear in court on May 10th after being charged with possession of stolen property. Ms. Orlando is alleged to have been seen by Sears security staff taking a wallet. Security staff apprehended Ms. Orlando and she was then turned over to city police officers.


ASSAULT SECURITY AND POLICE ALLEGED
Timothy Jubenville, age 24, will appear in bail court on Tuesday April 13th after being remanded into custody this morning.

Jubenville, of Toronto, is alleged to have been in the Station Mall last night around 7:45 pm and began yelling at mall security officers and assaulted one of the security staff.

When police officers arrived and arrested Mr.Jubenville, he threatened to kill one of the officers. Mr. Jubenville who is charged under the liquor licence act with intoxicated in a public place also faces criminal charges of causing a disturbance, threatening death, assault, breach of recognizance and 2 counts of breach of probation.
