A fourth teenager has been charged in connection with a violent group assault that left another youth with serious injuries.

Last week, Sault Police announced that three teens — two 15-year-olds and one 16-year-old — were accused of chasing down another young person on Nov. 6 and "punching and kicking them repeatedly."

The victim was seriously injured, police say.

Today, police announced that a fourth suspect, age 16, was arrested on Nov. 12 and charged in connection with the attack.

"An investigation revealed this accused youth had also participated in punching and kicking the victim, causing serious physical injuries," says a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

The youth was charged with assault causing bodily harm and released on an undertaking. The teen is scheduled back in court on Jan. 25, 2025.

The identities of all four suspects cannot be released under protections of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
