An additional victim has come forward in the case against a former part-time professor at Algoma University who was charged with sexual assault earlier this year.
In January, 56-year-old Michael Lajoie was charged with sexual assault after a Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigation.
The latest victim came forward after the initial police release of information.
Detectives investigated the new complaint and police say that, during the winter semester of 2019, the victim was a student at Algoma and that during the victim's time there, the accused touched the victim for a sexual purpose. Police say the incident happened off campus.
Lajoie was arrested on Feb. 10 and has been charged with sexual assault. He has been released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on April 17.
