Five people were arrested and face a number of drug-related offences following an incident that occurred on Welling Street East yesterday afternoon.
A news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service states that during a search warrant executed in the 400 block of Wellington East, officers seized narcotics believed to be fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, oxycodone, and morphine. Canadian currency and a butterfly knife were also seized.
Full text of the release follows:
On Nov. 16, 2021, officers with the Crime Suppression Unit, Drug Enforcement Unit, Emergency Services Unit and Patrol Services Unit charged 19-year-old Christian Blais, 44-year-old Sabrina Cloutier, 38-year-old Matthew Crowle, 19-year-old Tyler Lariviere and 34-year-old Derek Woods with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
On Nov. 16, 2021 around 2:30 p.m., officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 400 block of Wellington Street East. Upon entering the residence, officers located the five accused and they were arrested.
During a subsequent search of the residence, officers located:
• Approximately 8.75 grams of a substance believed to be fentanyl
• Approximately 11.33 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine
• Approximately 49.52 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine
• Approximately 23 tablets of a substance believed to by oxycodone
• Approximately 8 tablets believed to be morphine
• A quantity of Canadian currency
• A butterfly knife
The estimated street value of the narcotics seized is $10,775.
During a search of Mr. Blais he was found to be in possession of brass knuckles, and a knife that opens with centrifugal force. He is charged with:
• Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x3
• Possession of property obtained by crime
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x3
• Unauthorized possession of a weapon x3
• Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon x3
• Possession of a controlled substance x2
He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 17, 2022.
Ms. Cloutier is charged with:
• Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x3
• Possession of property obtained by crime
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Unauthorized possession of a weapon
• Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
• Possession of a controlled substance x2
She was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 17, 2022.
Mr. Crowle is charged with:

• Possession of property obtained by crime
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Unauthorized possession of a weapon
