Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services responded to a reported chemical leak at The John Rhodes Arena at approximately 6 a.m. this morning.
It was determined that evacuation of the building was not necessary, and no injuries were reported in relation to this incident, states a news release issued by Fire Services.
CANUTEC – Canadian Transport Emergency Centre operated by the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Directorate of Transport Canada – has been notified and a third-party contractor corrected the issue causing the leak.
Although the leak was small, responding firefighters took advantage of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as a precaution during the investigation.
