A crash that happened overnight around midnight has led to charges for a 22-year-old driver.
The crash was reported to 911 communicators overnight that a vehicle had crashed in the 0-100 block of Lethbridge Street.
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded and found a vehicle in a ditch and a damaged fence on the property.
Police spoke with the driver and say they had ground to believe the driver was impaired by alcohol.
The accused provided multiple breath samples, all of which registered above the legal limit and the driver was arrested.
As a result, Tyler Gauthier has been charged with:
- operation while impaired – drug and/or alcohol
- operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80+)
- dangerous operation
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 28, 2024.
