Erratic driving on Great Northern Road alerts police to stolen vehicle

A 21-year-old is facing multiple charges

A person was arrested after being found inside a vehicle that Sault Ste. Marie Police said was stolen.

A 911 call came in around 3:30 p.m. Sunday to report an erratic driver in the 400 block of Great Northern Road.

Arriving officers found a suspect vehicle in a parking lot.

“An investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that day,” police said in a news release.

Officers located the accused inside the vehicle, and she was arrested.

Katie Goodmurphy, 21, has been charged with:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle 
  • Theft – Over $5,000 
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5,000 
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order 
  • Failure to Comply with Appearance Notice 

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
