Erratic driving leads to impaired charges

Police have charged Peter Zachary Day-Andre with impaired driving after he was seen by officers driving erratically on Wellington Street East near Church Street early Monday morning.

A news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service states that following his arrest, the 33-year-old accused failed two breath tests.

Full text of the news release follows:

On April 4, 2022, officers with Patrol Services charged 33-year-old Peter Zachary Day-Andre with operation while impaired - alcohol and/or drug.

Around 1 a.m. officers observed a vehicle driving erratically on Wellington Street East near Church Street. Upon approaching the vehicle and speaking with the accused, officers developed grounds to believe his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

He was arrested, and later provided breath samples into an approved device, registering two fail results.

He is charged with:
    •    Operation while impaired - alcohol and/or drug
    •    Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80+)

He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on May 2, 2022.
