A 48-year-old man faces assault charges stemming from an incident that took place earlier this week.
In a news release issued today, Sault Ste. Marie police say officers responded to a call around 9:20 a.m. on Jan. 4 of someone assaulting an employee at a business in the 500 block of Bay Street.
The suspect left before officers arrived, but upon investigation, police say they found out that he had yelled threats at an employee, spit on them, and hit them in the face with a large stick.
Officers located the accused – who matched the description of the suspect – in the 700 block of Wellington Street East.
As a result, Todd Pineo was arrested and charged with:
- Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
- Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Failure to Comply with Probation Order x2
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Pineo is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
