Employee struck by person being escorted out of Pine Street business: police

A staff member at a business on Pine Street was struck by someone who was being escorted from the premises, Sault Ste. Marie Police say.

The incident has resulted in assault charges being laid.

At around 1 p.m. on Saturday, a person went to a business in the 700 block of Pine Street.

Police did not say what transpired, but the person ended up being escorted from the business, according to police.

The person being escorted out struck a staff member, then fled the area, police allege.

Following the incident, a warrant was requested and issued for an arrest.

Officers located the suspect at around 9:30 p.m. at a business in the 0-100 block of Great Northern Road and the person was arrested.

Lacey McLean, 37, is charged with assault.

The accused was held in custody pending an appearance in Weekend and Statutory Holiday court.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and McLean is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
