Early morning Cathcart Street fire deemed suspicious

Shed was 'significantly damaged' by the fire

A fire that occurred early this morning on Cathcart Street has been deemed suspicious, states a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Fire crews responded to the shed fire at approximately 12:10 a.m.

Full text of the news release follows:

On Aug. 13, 2021 around 12:10 a.m., officers attended a fire scene in the 0-100 block of Cathcart Street at the request of Sault Fire Services.

Upon arrival, officers observed a shed on the property significantly damaged by fire. Upon speaking with Sault Fire Services personnel, the fire has been deemed suspicious.

The investigation is ongoing.
