Sault Police say an impaired driver ran a red light early Friday morning before crashing into a ditch and walking away from the accident scene.

At around 5:20 a.m. on Oct. 11, someone phoned 911 to report a “vehicle driving erratically” and going through a red light at Third Line East and Great Northern Road.

A short time later, police say dispatchers received another call about the same vehicle crashing into a ditch and damaging a retaining wall in front of a house on Parkshore Drive.

Police say the driver walked away from the scene but was located nearby, uninjured.

Officers developed grounds to believe the man was impaired. He provided multiple breath samples that all registered above the legal limit, police allege.

Sean Marlow, 46, is charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Drug and/or Alcohol
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Failure to Stop After Accident

He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled back in court on Nov. 4, 2024.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Marlow is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
