Drugs seized after police called to area gravel pit

Three people face a variety of charges after police responded to an area gravel pit on Monday.

A news release issued by the Anishinabek Police Service (APS) states that following a foot pursuit, three people were arrested and narcotics were seized.

Police alleged that the three accused were also responsible for the theft and damage to property in the area.

Full text of the APS release follows:

The Garden River First Nation Detachment of the Anishinabek Police Service (APS) responded to suspicious activities in a gravel pit. Police attended and were advised that a female driver was parked in the vicinity and took off when confronted by the owner of the property.

Police arrived on the scene where vehicle hoods were observed to be open. Two males started running away from the area even when advised to stop by police. A foot chase ensued and two males were located and taken into custody. The driver of the suspect vehicle was also located by police and that female driver was also arrested.

As a result of the arrest police discovered that the culprits were [allegedly] stealing and damaging property when they fled from police. Police also seized a variety of illicit drugs during the arrests.

The Anishinabek Police would like to acknowledge and thank the Batchewana Police Service, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, and the Ontario Provincial Police for their assistance in this matter.

Lisa Wilson (53) was charged with:
    •    Failure to comply with release orders
    •    Mischief under $5,000
    •    Theft under $5,000
    •    Possession of schedule 1 substance x3
    •    Trafficking of a schedule 1 substance

Jason Pine (33) was charged with:
    •    Failure to comply with release orders
    •    Failure to comply with probation order x2
    •    Mischief under $5,000
    •    Theft under $5,000
    •    Resist peace officer

Robbin Perks (39) was charged with:
    •    Failure to comply with release orders x8
    •    Mischief under $5,000
    •    Theft under $5,000
    •    Resist peace officer

All three individuals were held for bail hearings and all were remanded into custody.
