Drug trafficking charges laid after suspected fentanyl seized

One person is facing drug trafficking charges after Sault Ste. Marie Police seized suspected fentanyl.

Police were called to a disturbance in the 200 block of Wellington Street West at around 10 a.m. on Monday.

Arriving officers say the search of a suspect turned up approximately 48.18 grams of suspected fentanyl with a street value of approximately $7,227, along with about $50 in Canadian currency and two cellphones.

Brett Warnock, 45, has been charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I Substance for Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5,000

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
