A driver from Echo Bay is facing multiple charges after police say they were asleep at the wheel while the vehicle was stopped at a Sault Ste. Marie intersection.

On Tuesday, at around 9:30 p.m., a 911 call was made regarding a driver allegedly asleep at the wheel of a vehicle running at the intersection of Pleasant Drive and Pine Street.

Officers arrived on scene and police say they woke the driver up and got the vehicle turned off. An investigation led officers to believe that the driver was impaired and the accused was arrested, later providing two breath samples that registered above the legal limit.

Kaylee King has been charged with:

  • dangerous operation
  • operation while impaired – alcohol and/or drug
  • operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80+)
