One person was charged with impaired driving after police say they fled the scene of a collision that occurred in the area of Allen’s Side Road and Yates Avenue last week.

Officers responded to the scene on the afternoon of Nov. 8 and located the accused, 30-year-old Nicholas Connor, a short time later, says a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

"The accused provided multiple breath samples into an approved screening device and all results were above the legal limit," the release says.

Both the accused and the other driver were treated at hospital for minor injuries.

Connor is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 11 and stands charged with:

    •    Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80+)
    •    Dangerous operation causing bodily harm
    •    Operation causing bodily harm
    •    Fail to remain (under the Highway Traffic Act)

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Connor is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
