One person faces impaired driving charges after officers found the accused behind the wheel in a Second Line West driveway on Saturday afternoon.

Police say the 54-year-old was arrested and failed two subsequent breath tests.

Full text of a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service follows:

On Sept. 17, 2022, officers with Patrol Services charged 54-year-old Martin James with operation while impaired – alcohol and/or drugs.

Around 2:20 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Second Line West. Upon arriving, officers observed the accused in the driver’s seat of the vehicle in the driveway of the residence. Upon speaking with the accused, officers developed grounds to believe the accused’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The accused was arrested and later provided breathe samples into an approved device, registering two fail results.

The accused is charged with:
    •    Operation while impaired – alcohol and/or drug
    •    Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80+)

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 17, 2022.
