Two people were taken to hospital this morning after a crash at Albert and Eglin streets — one of the three Sault intersections that recently had its lights turned off as part of a city traffic study.
Police, fire and ambulance crews responded to the collision, which shut down traffic at the downtown intersection.
Lincoln Louttit, a spokesman for the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, said both people involved suffered minor injuries.
Announced last month, the city's traffic study included turning off the street lights at three intersections and adding stop signs to the minor roads instead.
At this particular intersection, motorists on Albert Street now have the right of way, while drivers on Elgin must stop at new stop signs.
