Collision reduces Highway 17 north to one lane (update: one driver charged)

Update

In a release issued by the Ontario Provincial Police, one driver has been charged following a crash earlier this afternoon on Highway 17 North.

The OPP report that two pickup trucks were travelling northbound on the highway in Goulais Township when the lead truck slowed down to make a left turn when it was struck from behind.

The driver of the rear truck, a 47-year-old from London, Ont. has been charged with careless driving as a result.

The Ministry of Transportation is reporting via the Ontario 511 website that Highway 17 North is partially closed in the Havilland area.

A collision that occurred shortly after 1 p.m. today has reduced the highway to one lane near the Havilland Waste Management facility.

It is unknown at this time if any injuries were reported as a result of this collision.
