Car stuck in snowbank leads to impaired charge

Police responded after 911 caller reported vehicle in ditch

Police have charged a 29-year-old Sault driver with impaired after a vehicle was stuck in a snowbank on Shoreview Crescent.

At approximately 2 a.m., a 911 call was made and officers with Sault Ste. Marie Police Service's patrol services unit were dispatched to the scene.

When they arrived, officers found a vehicle stuck in the snowbank with the driver still inside the vehicle.

Police say that a further investigation prompted an arrest and breath samples, which registered two readings above the legal limit.

Jarret Vernelli has been charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and/or drug as well as operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80+).
