A 26-year-old woman has been charged with impaired driving after a vehicle crashed into the front of a residence Wednesday evening.

Sault police responded to the 500 block of Parliament Street around 6 p.m. on June 7 after someone reported a suspected impaired driver.

“Officers were dispatched to the location, where the accused had already departed in their vehicle after crashing into the front of a residence,” says a news release from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “The accused returned to the residence in their vehicle shortly thereafter.”

After speaking to the driver, police say they developed grounds to believe she was impaired. The accused provided two breath samples and both came back over the legal limit, police allege.

Karissa Ferrigan, 26 is charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and/or Drug
  • Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)

She was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled back in court on July 10, 2023.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Ferrigan is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
