A 41-year-old is behind bars after the Sault police canine unit helped track down a knife-wielding suspect who allegedly threatened multiple people in different parts of the city.

It all began yesterday afternoon around 3 p.m., when officers were dispatched to a Stevens Street backyard for a report of a person being threatened by a stranger with a knife.

“Shortly after the first call, 911 Communicators received a second call about a person threatening two children in the area of Wilson Street and Nino Drive,” says a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

With the help of the canine unit, police say they tracked the suspect to carport in the 300 block of Morin Avenue.

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
