A 45-year-old who was on probation is facing a long list of charges after a weekend break-in at a local business.

On Oct. 5 at around 6:40 p.m., someone phoned 911 to report a break and enter in the 500 block of Third Line East.

Sault Police say the culprit “had stolen materials which were critical to the functioning of the business.”

Later that night, at around 8:20 p.m., police say a suspect was located on the Hub Trail a short distance from the business.

“Nearby, officers located a suitcase full of stolen materials and break in instruments,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Cory Gostlin is charged with:

  • Break and Enter – Commit Indictable Offence
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Mischief – Over $5,000
  • Possession of Break in Instruments
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Theft – Under $5,000

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on Dec. 2, 2024.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Gostlin is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
