Break-and-enter suspect caught red-handed: Sault Police

21-year-old faces multiple charges after being arrested Saturday morning at a business on Great Northern Road

Sault Police say they caught a break-in suspect at the scene of the crime.

At around 6 a.m. Saturday, 911 communicators were told of a break and enter in progress at a business in the 1300 block of Great Northern Road.

When officers arrived they found and arrested a suspect inside, police say.

“An investigation revealed the accused had broken into the business and attempted to steal items and cash with a value of approximately $1,000,” allege Sault Ste. Marie Police in a news release.

Chrisyl Okimaw, 21, of Attawapiskat, Ontario has been charged with:

  • Break and enter
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Failure to comply with a probation order

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on Aug. 26, 2024.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
