Arrest made in vehicle theft investigation

Accused was found in possession of ammunition at the time of his arrest, police say

Sault Police have charged Randy Ingram in relation to the theft of a motor vehicle.

In a news release issued today, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service states that officers responded to a Wellington Street West address last night and found the accused in possession of the stolen vehicle.

A search at the time of his arrest also found that Ingram was in possession of two rounds of .410 calibre ammunition.

On March 16, 2021 officers with the Crime Suppression Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit charged 28-year-old Randy Ingram with theft of a motor vehicle.

At 10 p.m. officers attended a residence in 0-100 block of Wellington Street West to investigate a report of a stolen vehicle. It is alleged the vehicle was stolen sometime between 11 p.m. on March 14, 2021 and 8 a.m. on March 15, 2021. Upon arriving at the residence, officers located the vehicle in the possession of the accused.

He was arrested and a subsequent search of the area of arrest found the accused to be in possession of two rounds of .410 calibre ammunition.

He is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime, and two counts of possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 19, 2021.
