Arrest made in 2021 break-and-enter investigation

Sault Ste. Marie police have made an arrest following a 2021 break-and-enter investigation, a news release said.

On Aug. 5, 2021, around 4:30 a.m. officers responded to an alarm call at a business in the 300 block of Queen Street East. Upon arrival, officers observed the business had been damaged to gain entry. Further investigation determined approximately $700-800 worth of items were missing.

During the course of the probe, police identified the person allegedly involved in the incident, the release said.

On Dec. 13, 2022, officers arrested a suspect in the area of John Street and St. Georges Avenue West. 

Tristen Vipond, 27, faces charges of breaking, entering and committing; fail to comply with probation order – to keep the peace and be of good behaviour; fail to comply with probation order – not be in possession of break-in instruments.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 6, 2023.
