'Aggressive bear' spotted on Hub Trail today, police warn

Sault Police have issued a warning to area residents of a bear sighting on the Hub Trail this afternoon at approximately 2 p.m.

A news release issued today states that "an aggressive bear" was spotted in the area of Northern Avenue and Finn Hill and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) is aware of the incident.

"Anyone who frequents this area should be mindful there may be a bear in the area," the release states.

"If you encounter a bear and are concerned for your safety, call 911 immediately."

Bear sightings that don't pose an immediate danger can be reported to the MNRF by calling the toll-free Bear Wise line at 1-866-514-2327 (TTY 705-945-7641).
