A 14-year-old girl is facing assault charges for spitting on a police officer

She and four other teens are facing break and enter charges tied to the Wednesday evening incident

A 14-year-old girl allegedly spit on a Sault Ste. Marie police officer during the arrest of her and four other teens for break and enter.

She is facing charges of assaulting a police officer and possession of a weapon for dangerous use as she was carrying a baseball bat.

The four other teens, two 14-year-old boys, one 15-year-old boy and one 15-year-old girl, are facing break and enter charges.

The incident took place around 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday, police responded to a break and enter in an abandoned building in 300 block of McNabb Street, and found the five teens inside.

A Sault Ste. Marie Police press release confirmed that all five teens have been released and are scheduled to appear in court on April 12.
