Around 1 a.m. Thursday, officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were dispatched after a report of an unwanted person with a weapon at a residence in the 0-100 block of Cathcart Street.

Police say the person had left the area before the officers arrived but a person matching the accused was found at a residence in the 0-100 block of Blucher Street.

The accused was detained and a search of the person found 86 grams of suspected fentanyl and the accused was arrested. No weapon was found as part of the search, but the estimated street value of the suspected drugs is $34,000.

Paul Quesnel has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and breach of probation - keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
