On Wednesday, Sault Police officers charged a 73-year-old man with sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age and sexual interference.
"At around 4:30 p.m., police received a report of a 15-year-old child having been sexually assaulted by someone unknown to them.
"An investigation revealed the accused met the victim at a public place and, despite learning their age, took the victim to their residence and sexually assaulted them," police said in a news release.
Officers located and arrested Wayne Woolley.
Woolley is charged with:
- Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 Years of Age
- Sexual Interference
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Woolley is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
